SHARKS COMPETITIVE SQUAD PROGRESSION

Squad placement and transitions are predominately determined by criterion based test sets, with some subjective coaching instinct. Coaches are guided by a team-wide philosophy which drives our decisions.  We hope the following communication will allow for a better understanding of group placement and decision making.

These standards ensure that a swimmer’s progress through the squads is a measure of their improvement in technique, endurance, speed, and an increased levels of commitment.

Ultimately swimmers will be moved up squads based on the coaches’ decision.  Any movement in squads will be a joint decision between the swimmers’ current coach and the Swimming Department.  Each swimmer’s progress is closely monitored throughout training and competition.  Swimmer's are placed in the squad that best suits their specific needs and the needs of the Club.
