First Skills Curriculum (Preschool 3 to Year 1)

We offer a simplified curriculum called the Coerver® “Foundation Pyramid” which is appropriate for players aged between 3-6 years, known as the First Skills program. The FIRST SKILLS program is more EDUCATIONAL, more EFFECTIVE, and more FUN! than any other introductory soccer skills program.

The Coerver® Foundation Pyramid®2012 consists of 4 components:

SKILLS (Basic Ball Mastery, and simple 1v1 Moves);

SPEED (particularly mental reaction speed);

SHOOTING (kicking technique);

SMALL-SIDED GAMES (2v2/3v3/4v4).

The FIRST SKILLS program builds the essential foundations young players need before they step into organized, competitive team play and is part of a fully integrated skill development system which then continues into the Coerver® Coaching Creative Player, Performance Academy and Sharks Football Club pathways for players aged 7 and older.

Each child will receive a Certificate of Participation at the end of each term on the final day of training.

Goals of the Coerver First Skills Program

  • To help children develop self-confidence and a love of football.
  • To develop important foundation skills with a focus on ball mastery, striking/shooting, and how to play in small-sided games.
  • To develop listening skills, extended concentration, speedy reactions, as well as core social skills of communication and cooperation.
  • TO HAVE FUN!
All First Skills programs works on a 1:6 or 1:8 coach to student ratio based on the program ages.
